Content platforms and their impact on digital audiences: the cases of youtube and twitch

Abstract
The establishment of the Internet on a global scale has brought about multiple transformations in all areas. The communication sector has also been affected by this, which has led to an expansion of the possibilities for communication. In addition, the classic one-all structure that had become established with traditional media is no longer the only alternative. Now, network users have the power to choose what content to consume and when to do so. The aim of this paper is to show how this new digital communicative option has reached Internet users, and to try to justify why it is having so much success. To do so, we have studied two of the most relevant audiovisual content platforms on the Internet: YouTube and Twitch.
